The patented pick-by-robot solution "LUKE2" was thus certified as having the potential to sustainably change the market for fully automated individual parts picking. LUKE2 is the only mobile pick robot to date that can be used alternately or as an alternative to a worker. The bilstein group from Ennepetal is expanding and is building another highly automated logistics centre in Gelsenkirchen with an area of 45,000 m². The dimensions of the first section are equivalent to more than six football pitches and the assembly of the steel structure for the automatic high-bay warehouse (HBW) with more than 85,000 pallet spaces and the automatic small parts warehouse (ASPW) with around 230,000 container spaces has been completed or is currently running at full speed.

 

The huge facility is being built on the traditional site in the "Schalker Verein" industrial park acquired by the bilstein group in 2017. From here, the leading spare parts supplier for passenger cars and commercial vehicles will ship wearing parts all over the world in the future. OPTIMA has invested around 20 million euros in the construction of a new hybrid central warehouse. Since March 2019, the packaging system specialist has been using the facility in Schwäbisch Hall to manage both the assembly supply across several business units and the global distribution of its range of spare parts. As a development and implementation partner, the SAP EWM general contractor IGZ was responsible not only for the entire plant technology but also for the implementation of SAP EWM (SAP Extended Warehouse Management) with the integrated SAP MFS (Material Flow Control), as well as direct ERP integration; furthermore, IGZ also implemented the entire control technology and plant visualisation.

The road roller manufacturer Hamm and the software company IGZ are practically neighbours – and both the number one in their respective industries. They are also both working together on a major project: IGZ has digitalised Hamm’s entire logistics. The Upper Palatinate is also set to also benefit from the cooperation.

IGZ - The SAP engineers can now look back on the 500th successful go-live of the SAP EWM extended warehouse management system. The go-live in Kozieglowy, Poland, took place in parallel to the ongoing main SAP EWM project for the Hawle Austria Group, which is headquartered in Vöcklabruck.

In reaching the 500 mark, IGZ, based in Falkenberg, Opf., is continuing to expand its position as a leading SAP EWM general contractor in the area of intralogistics, especially in connection with automated warehouse technology. This is because the lion's share of the 500 SAP EWM projects was also implemented with the SAP material flow component MFS (Material Flow System).

Commercial vehicle parts wholesaler Winkler has invested around 45 million euros in the construction of a third central warehouse.

The new logistics property in Himberg near Vienna, the planning and implementation of which was handled by the SAP EWM general contractor IGZ from Falkenberg in the Upper Palatinate, is geared primarily to supplying the Eastern European markets and will relieve the burden on Winkler's Kassel and Ulm locations. The required system performance is ensured by the optimum interaction of mechanics, SPS and SAP EWM standard software.
