As a specialist for fastening technology, Hilti is the world's leading partner in the B2B sector. The Oberhausen Regional Distribution Center, which was commissioned in 1984 and expanded several times, most recently in 1999, forms the backbone of distribution logistics for Central Europe. Around 2.5 million delivery items are processed through it every year.

In order to adapt the Regional Distribution Center Oberhausen (RDCO), the largest DC in the Hilti logistics network, to future market requirements, the tool manufacturer has invested in an extensive retrofit and expansion project.

Remaining loyal to an employer for decades is no longer a matter of course these days. In light of this, gratitude is all the more due. The IT company IGZ honoured the 10th and 20th anniversaries of 23 company members at Falkenburg Castle.

Senior founder Wolfgang Gropengießer with company successor Philipp Gropengießer and Managing Director Christian Mattes thanked the IGZ jubilarians for their many years of loyalty to the company.

The Hannover Messe was again held in person for the first time since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. IGZ was present as an exhibitor at the world's leading trade fair for industry between 30 May and 2 June 2022 – this time it took place at the same time as the "LogiMAT" in Stuttgart.

With the guiding theme “TRANSFORMING INDUSTRY TOGETHER”, this year’s focus was on digitalisation and sustainability. After intensive weeks of preparation, our trade fair teams were very much looking forward to meeting our existing and potential customers face-to-face again. Around 75,000 people were on-site during the fair, and another 15,000 participated digitally.

The LogiMAT – International Trade Fair for Intralogistics Solutions and Process Management took place in Stuttgart from 31 May to 2 June 2022 as an in-person event once again for the first time.

The well-known intralogistics trade fair ran in parallel with the Hannover Messe, and we were represented with a total of three booths at both events at the same time. Our team was very much looking forward to being able to talk face-to-face with our existing and potential customers.

The highlight of the trade fair was our IGZ Best Practice PICK-BY-ROBOT®, a fully automated, robot-controlled and camera-based picking solution that enables 100% picking reliability and a zero-error rate in 24/7 operation.

For the second time in a row, IGZ was presented with the coveted German Innovation Award in "GOLD". Established by the German Design Council, the prize is awarded to highly innovative products and solutions. In May 2022, the SAP engineers from IGZ bagged the award for the "IDA2" worker assistance system. The abbreviation stands for "Intelligent Digital Assistant 2". This digital assistant is a currently unique, retrofittable worker assistance system that combines automated control and monitoring of assembly, logistics and quality processes in one system.

It is not limited to checking individual product features but recognises process interrelationships. To do so, the system aggregates the data from the camera-based monitoring of production steps and checks the workpiece and logistics.

IGZ has reached a new record: IGZ successfully controls more than 2,000 stacker cranes and well over 1,000 shuttle vehicles with SAP EWM/MFS standard software in automated small-parts and high-bay warehouses. This underpins the SAP engineers’ leading expertise in highly automated, SAP-controlled intralogistics systems.

This impressive number is another major success in the company’s 22-year history. The special thing about this is that both the stacker cranes and the shuttles come from a variety of different manufacturers and have been successfully put into operation in projects at more than 450 companies worldwide.

In Kemnath in the Upper Palatinate, Siemens Healthineers is investing around €13 million in a partially automated production supply centre. By doing so, Siemens Healthineers will be automating intralogistics at the Kemnath site for the first time.

The new production supply centre is based on concept studies and planning results from IGZ in Falkenberg. As an SAP EWM general contractor, IGZ impressed one of the leading manufacturers of medical technology, in particular with technology neutrality and responsibility for end-to-end integration. As a result, IGZ was awarded the contract for overall implementation.

The creation of consistent batch traceability was the primary objective and one of the great challenges with respect to the introduction of SAP MII (SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence) at the Champignon Hofmeister business group. The standard software now ensures complete transparency across locations – from the farm to the packaged cheese – and optimises the entire milk processing value chain thanks to digitalisation.

To ensure that its IT architecture is standardised, polymer specialist Rehau relies on SAP EWM for warehouse and production logistics with direct SAP ERP integration. The roll-out to the sites is simplified by mean of a SAP EWM template in which the production and logistics processes of the Construction and Industry business units are mapped. In addition to this roll-out project, IGZ is responsible for planning and implementing two new automated warehouses.

In the period of reconstruction after the Second World War, creativity and a "get-it-done mentality" were more in demand than ever. Helmut Wagner likewise didn't waste any time, and in 1948 he started producing plastic water hoses and piping in Rehau in Upper Franconia.

Since July 2021, IGZ has been promoted to Gold status in the SAP PartnerEdge program. This is the highest award that an SAP partner can achieve at national level. SAP thus honors the long-standing and successful cooperation with IGZ as well as the numerous outstanding customer references with which IGZ, the SAP engineers, have proven themselves to be established and reliable SAP partners.
