From 2006, SAP has been offering SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM) as part of mySAP SCM vers. 5.0.
Under the hood, SAP has added new features for SAP warehouse management for specific industries.
As one example, SAP EWM (SAP Extended Warehouse Management) now offers considerably more support than before for system owners in the service parts logistics segment. Features here include the modelling of variants as well as "Service Parts Planning & Execution". SAP EWM (SAP Extended Warehouse Management) also offers improved multi-client capabilities (multi-customer warehousing), which is especially important for logistics service providers.
SAP EWM (SAP Extended Warehouse Management) also facilitates improved goods logistics within distributed warehouse centres. Frequently-requested articles ("fast movers") can be moved quickly from goods receipt to goods issue without requiring a time-consuming putaway ("cross-docking").
SAP EWM (SAP Extended Warehouse Management) also offers integrated SAP Task and Resource Management (SAP TRM) for the control of forklift use and material flow in fully-automated warehouse systems via direct connection of the underlying controllers (PLCs, for example with direct SAP-S7 interfacing).
What to deploy – SAP EWM or SAP LES with SAP TRM?
As a SAP Special Expertise Partner for SAP Logistics Execution (SAP LES), IGZ has been heavily involved in SAP EWM (SAP Extended Warehouse Management) design and development together with SAP since early 2004, and has therefore gained many years of comprehensive experience with SAP EWM (SAP Extended Warehouse Management).
IGZ's customers benefit from this wealth of expertise, e.g. when requesting early advice on a SAP LES/EWM (Logistics Execution System/Extended Warehouse Management) deployment and hence a customer-specific, competent and objective assessment of alternatives such as "SAP R/3 LES" or "SAP LES with SAP ECC in mySAP ERP" or "SAP EWM in a SAP SCM environment".
If you are interested in advice from IGZ on a SAP LES/TRM (Logistics Execution System/Extended Warehouse Management) or SAP EWM (SAP Extended Warehouse Management) deployment, please email us at email@example.com.
