AutoStore Integration
Robot-based small parts warehouse – fast, compact, automated
Cube storage systems have enjoyed great popularity for some time now. The best-known example of this is the "AutoStore" system. AutoStore is regarded as an almost revolutionary space-saving system and is recommended for anyone who wants to gain storage space or make the best possible use of existing space. Designed as a storage and picking solution, AutoStore offers a wide range of applications. As a rule, AutoStore systems are designed for construction or stacking heights of up to approx. 5 meters.
Basically, this system uses battery-operated robots, storage containers, operator connections and an aluminum grid: the robots move along the top of the grid in both longitudinal and transverse directions and store and retrieve containers. The storage capacity can be increased by extending the storage grid. The throughput achieved can be increased by using more robot vehicles.
SAP EWM Interface
An AutoStore system is supplied by the respective distributors as a complete system. The scope of delivery always includes the AutoStore Controller, which takes over the final control of the individual AutoStore robots (vehicles). Various integration options are available to connect this AutoStore Controller to SAP EWM, e.g.:
1. Integration via IDoc interface
An AutoStore system can be connected to SAP EWM in the "classic" way via a standardized IDoc interface (WM-LSR). In this variant, data and transport orders are exchanged as structured messages (IDocs) between SAP EWM and the AutoStore controller.
2. Direct integration via WebService
An alternative is to connect an AutoStore system to SAP EWM via web services. There are also predefined standards for this.
IGZ offers a prefabricated interface for this (and other) integration variants as best practice, which already contains preconfigured interfaces for connecting AutoStore.
