Automated single & multi-item analysis with SAP EWM
In many logistics centers, insufficient or incomplete article master data is a key obstacle to stable processes and the efficient use of automation.
Manual recording is time-consuming, error-prone and often not scalable - especially with changing article ranges, high article diversity or short-term product range expansions.
At the same time, the requirements for transparency, process reliability and degree of automation are increasing. Precise dimensions, weights and article categories are essential for the optimal operation of systems, robot cells and SAP-based processes.
Smart Item Scan (SIS)
The IGZ Smart Item Scan (SIS) is a camera-based best-practice solution for automated master data capture directly in the warehouse. Using modern 3D vision technology and AI, SIS captures item dimensions (length, width, height) and product category fully automatically, contactless, reproducible and fully integrated into the SAP system. Visual evaluation combined with (external) weight measurement also allows the article weight to be recorded.
SIS can be used flexibly:
- as an add-on at picking workstations
- as an extension of existing robot workstations
- Analysis directly within the handling units, or on defined reference areas
The recorded data is reported back to SAP (e.g. SAP EWM) in real time and is immediately available for subsequent processes such as storage, picking or automation.
