Electronic Work Instruction (EWI) in the process industry with SAP MII (SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence)

With the EWI (Electronic Work Instruction) module, IGZ has expanded its SAP MII (SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence) Best Practices to include a further integrative component for interfacing with production facilities by using SAP MES.

Electronic work instructions used for the presentation, processing and confirmation of process manufacturing instructions include the following:

  • Process instruction sheets
  • Process messages
  • Display process standard values or pass these to machinery
  • QM inspection lot processing
  • Display of hazardous material notices and symbols from SAP EH&S

Local data retention in SAP MII (SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence) enables autonomous processing. Operators benefit from the deployment of EWI, and especially from the system-assisted guidance of personnel through the process phases, the dynamic control of production facilities and the transfer of process parameters (digital/analogue I/O adapter).

Other advantages include automated process data recording, the provisioning of up-to-date production reference documentation and safety instructions, digital signatures – e.g. via RFID – integrated QM processing, paperless production and the vertical integration via a PI-PCS interface.
