  • Side-by-Side Extensions: Decoupled applications and services outside the SAP core, typically on the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). 

This architectural model applies consistently to SAP S/4HANA as well as to specialized S/4 solutions such as SAP EWM, SAP TM, or SAP DM—regardless of whether the systems are operated on-premise, in the private cloud, or in hybrid scenarios.
