Picking Goods-to-Person – Efficient order processing

At the average warehouse work centre, the movement of goods weighing a total of several tonnes occurs on a daily basis. Adjusting the picking operation to the needs of employees is therefore indispensable.

Here, IGZ can offer high-performance, ergonomically refined Goods-to-Person work centres based on SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM). This works to prevent errors and boost performance while catering to employees' occupational safety and health requirements.

Areas of Application

When picking according to the goods-to-person principle, the goods are automatically delivered to the static high-performance picking workstation. The employee working at this workplace distributes the goods from the source container to the appropriate destination containers according to the quantities and specifications indicated on the monitor. The warning function of the picking work station immediately displays incorrect picks to the worker on the SAP EWM control monitor.

This alert function virtually eliminates picking errors, such as picking up the wrong product and / or the wrong amount. The goods-to-person solutions are suitable for use in medium-sized to large warehouses and not only improve throughput, but also minimize workers' travel and picking times. This creates a simplified and ergonomic picking process.
