For manual warehouse picking, Pick-by-Voice is one of the commonest picking technologies encountered. Here, voice technology enables warehouse personnel to receive computer-generated picking instructions and confirm these with voice commands. This leaves both hands free for goods handling.
Time-consuming MDC scanning work or struggling with pick lists becomes a thing of the past. All picking orders are dictated to the employee via a headset directly from SAP EWM (SAP Extended Warehouse Management) or SAP LES (SAP Logistics Execution System).
IGZ implements SAP Pick-by-Voice solutions entirely within the SAP suite, i.e. voice terminals are linked directly through to SAP EWM (SAP Extended Warehouse Management) or SAP LES (SAP Logistics Execution System) (with no use of middleware, no subsystems and no client-based voice recognition).
Extended SAP VoiceDirect from IGZ offers SAP-certified, highly standardised and yet flexible SAP connectivity for voice terminals (e.g. Vocollect Talkman).
Through the use of SAP with pick-by-voice, we were able to achieve a productivity increase of approximately 15% during the start-up phase and halve our error rate.
