Extended Load Planning® – optimise the loading process

Efficient utilisation of cargo space

Custom requirements for cargo space planning with various means of transport are an everyday reality across a wide range of industries. Based on material and packaging data, the IGZ EXTENDED LOAD PLANNING® Best Practice calculates optimal cargo space utilisation, taking into account the available capacities. This process is mapped with reference to extensively configurable parameters. In conjunction with the SAP systems SAP Transportation Management (SAP TM) and SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM), a seamless warehousing and transportation process is guaranteed.

Field of application and functions

The increasing dynamism of the markets requires ever greater flexibility and efficiency during loading. Often, the goal is to minimise freight costs while taking into account various influences (e.g. load securing, legal requirements, etc.). Extended Load Planning for SAP TM includes permanent optimisation and utilisation of loading capacities, e.g. for trucks, semi-trailers, swap bodies, rail cars, sea and air freight containers. Primarily, the following functions are supported:

Dynamic loading variants
Side loading, front, rear, trailer only, single-customer, ... (consideration of different customer characteristics)

Last-minute loading process
System-supported "top-up" of free storing positions in lorries awaiting departure

Calculation of loading and unloading sequence
As a result of a transport or route planning

Drag & drop
Easily exchange packages via mouse in 3D

Fast planning via command line
Repacking possible even after automatic planning has been completed

3D loading screen
Including storing position markings in 3D (e.g. special load carriers, empties, advertising material, ...)

Expanded context menu
Fast, clear query of customer/order information

Mixed loading prohibitions
Diverse criteria, e.g. hazardous goods, cooling zones, product groups, ...

Expanded planning options
Additional rules for consignment formation, e.g. cross-delivery, customer or material-related planning

Stackability
Rule-based planning using stacking factors, weight, remaining volume with nesting, etc.

Safety
Even load distribution and compliance with the maximum permissible axle loads

Storage integration SAP EWM + SAP TM

  • Improved interaction with picking, taking into account departure/cut-off times
  • Sequenced deployment in the loading zone
  • Basis for order planning and picking wave formation
  • Storing position and provision preset for SAP EWM
  • Transfer of the 3D view from SAP TM to the EWM loading dialogue
  • Loading instructions for forklift drivers
  • 3D and 2D top view and rear-aspect truck loading view
  • Package item data from SAP TM
  • Confirmation of loading
  • Basis for SAP EWM plan calculation (packages)
  • Basis for SAP EWM transport units, e.g. truck, container, ...
