SAP EWM and SAP MFS (Extended Warehouse Management / SAP Material Flow System) now managing the TYROLIT logistics centre for the Swarovski Group

As part of the modernisation of the logistics centre at Schwaz, TYROLIT Schleifmittelwerke Swarovski KG has replaced all external warehouse management and material flow systems with the SAP software suite.

TYROLIT, a Swarovski Group company, is headquartered in Schwaz/Tyrol (Austria), and is one of the world's leading developers and manufacturers of grinding tools with abrasives featuring all types of grit and binding variants, as well as a comprehensive range of dressing tools. TYROLIT operates a logistics centre in Schwaz for the supply of all of the sites in Europe, as well as direct sales areas.

For shipping in Europe, TYROLIT requires the highest possible level of availability from its logistics centre in Schwaz.

The company was faced with the prospect of a comprehensive retrofit of its high-bay warehouse, commissioned in 1993, in order to be able to adapt to future requirements and increasing sales with existing technology.

For this reason, the decision was made to use a sustainable solution based on the SAP software suite. Together with IGZ Logistics + IT, TYROLIT implemented the SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM) with the SAP-integrated Material Flow Control (SAP MFS).

Alongside reducing the interfaces and eliminating the black box scenario, one primary goal here was building up expertise about long-term maintenance and further development of the system within the company.

With this solution, Tyrolit now has a consistent, lean and transparent system architecture, and is therefore ideally placed to meet future challenges and the company's forecasts of continuous growth.
