SAP and partners at Hannover Messe 2013: Industry 4.0 and integrated IT solutions in the spotlight

At this year's Hannover Messe (8-12 April), SAP and partners will be presenting a comprehensive portfolio of services for manufacturing at Stand D04 in Hall 7 (Digital Factory flagship fair). The focus here will be on the futuristic topic of Industry 4.0 – the linking of industrial manufacturing and IT via cyber-physical production systems. SAP will be using selected application scenarios and research projects to illustrate how companies can use Industry 4.0 to develop new business models that go beyond straightforward deployment within manufacturing.

SAP will also be presenting solutions for design and product development, production (pre-)planning, manufacturing, plant maintenance and servicing, and information technology. IGZ Logistics + IT and other partners will be on hand at the SAP stand with their solutions, service portfolios and showcases.

Industry 4.0 will generate new information spaces, which will bring together ERP systems, databases and the Internet with real-time information from factories, supply chains and products. In its "Intelligent Maintenance Processes with SAP" scenario, SAP will show how downtime can be reduced by analysing sensor data together with error and fault patterns, so as to increase the productivity of factories and plant. The "KapaflexCy" research project is targeting a novel, self-organised kind of capacity management. This will enable companies to manage their production capacities at short notice and across the entire enterprise with the direct involvement of operating personnel.

SAP will also present solutions for three typical manufacturing industry applications:

  • The "Engineering & Design/Product Development" division will be presenting a comprehensive portfolio for product development, as well as SAP Visual Enterprise for the visualisation of design data, wrapping up with mobile scenarios for assembly and service.

  • The "Manufacturing" division will focus on solutions for boosting efficiency and transparency in manufacturing, plus flexible tools that provide full support for tasks within production monitoring, performance analysis and dashboarding.

  • For the third application scenario, "Plant Maintenance & Service/Mobility" will present solutions for asset management and field sales, as well as mobile applications for on-site service.

In addition, SAP's research unit will also be presenting an "Asset Information Management" prototype for the efficient, enterprise-wide information management of technical plant systems, plus "Parts On-Demand" for bespoke 3D printing in spare parts management.

In honour of this year's partner country Russia, SAP is represented at Hannover Messe as a partner of the City of Moscow. At the Moscow Municipal Administration stand (Hall 1, Stand C24), SAP will use four demo areas to present innovative solutions for the modern megalopolis on the topics of energy efficiency, public safety, health and smart shops (SAP Precision Retailing).

At the press roundtable event, "Vision and Product News: SAP and Industry 4.0" (8 April, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Convention Centre, Hall 11), Dr Kerstin Geiger, Senior Vice President Industry Business Solutions at SAP, will take us on a comprehensive tour of current projects at SAP and its customers about Industry 4.0, and present news about core applications and improved user experiences in manufacturing. Delegates will be able to gain first-hand experience of innovative technologies from customers' case studies and a live demo.
