Optimal integration of assembly and warehouse with SAP ME (SAP Manufacturing Execution) and SAP EWM (SAP Extended Warehouse Management)

Due to the necessity of process changes and the ever-increasing requirements facing manufacturing, Aspöck Systems GmbH has decided to introduce a deeply integrated all-in-one IGZ solution based on SAP ME (SAP Manufacturing Execution) with SAP EWM (SAP Extended Warehouse Management).

Based in Austria, Aspöck Systems GmbH is Europe's leading manufacturer of complete lighting systems for all makes of towed vehicles. Convinced by the SAP strategy and the added value of an open IT platform, Aspöck has decided to retire the current production and warehouse management system, and model the functionality within SAP ME (SAP Manufacturing Execution) and SAP EWM (SAP Extended Warehouse Management).

A specific, sophisticated and close integration of the company's production, warehousing, picking, assembly, shipping and material flow is increasingly necessary. The SAP modules ME (SAP Manufacturing Execution) and EWM (SAP Extended Warehouse Management) are especially well-suited to such highly-optimised integration work. IGZ had already spent time developing a corresponding prototype, which can now be used for this specific project.

Together with the specialist SAP partner IGZ, this integration work is now being completion – on the premise that the solution can also be used as a template and rolled out to other locations.

"With the introduction of SAP ME/EWM (SAP Manufacturing Execution/
SAP Extended Warehouse Management), we will be able to
recognize potential for optimisation ourselves and use our own
expertise to implement the corresponding enhancements and
improvements in the SAP environment."

Wolfgang Aigner,
Project Director at Aspöck Systems GmbH, Peuerbach (Austria)
