SAP Logistics Execution System

SAP LES Logistics Execution System

SAP LES is an integrated module of SAP R/3 or the SAP product suite SAP ERP (ECC) that has proven its value over many years.

With over 5,000 operational installations, SAP LES is the most frequently used standard software for warehouse management and control worldwide.

The main components of SAP LES are the warehouse management SAP WM (Warehouse Management) and the material flow control SAP TRM (SAP Task and Resource Management).

Application of SAP LES completely replaces external warehouse control systems (WMSs/MFCs) for automated and manual warehouses. Interfaces, dependencies and costs are significantly reduced.

SAP Handling Unit Management

With SAP Handling Unit Management (SAP HUM), SAP provides extensive functions for the representation of multi-level package structures as well as the depositation of packaging regulations.

Standards such as NVE, SSCC and also goods receipt / dispatch advice notices at packaging element level can be used integrated and across the entire supply chain, as well as for inter-company transactions.

Tracking and tracing according to EU178/2002 as well as serial number handling, is given optimal support with SAP HUM.

SAP Task and Resource Management

SAP has been supplying the SAP TRM material flow control component integrated in SAP LES from R/3 Rel. 4.7 (Enterprise) in the SAP standard since 2003.

SAP Task and Resource Management (SAP TRM) enables the detailed representation and optimisation of multi-level material flows in the warehouse as an extension to SAP Warehouse Management (WM).

SAP TRM is capable, as SAP MFC, of communicating direct from SAP with the subordinated programmable logic controllers (PLCs) of an HBW, or miniload AS/RS, such as SIEMENS S5, S7.

As a result, the use of external material flow control systems can be dispensed with entirely, and the number of interfaces reduced while communication is simplified.

SAP ITS mobile / SAPConsole

SAP ITS mobile directly communicates with browser-based RF devices and displays specifically created frontends. The browser is installed on the terminal itself which directly interacts with the SAP Web-Application-Server using HTML/Business-HTML. Using the standard scenario, SAP ITS mobile requires no proprietary clients and offers an unlimited differentiation of end-users within the SAP system.

With its SAP RF standard transactions, SAP ITS mobile features manifold configuration opportunities and supports most various RF devices. Thus users benefit from a high flexibility in choosing partners for their implementation and RF hardware needs.

Parallely to SAP ITS mobile, users can rely on SAPConsole, a proven and reliable SAP RF communication on ASCII/Telnet basis

SAP WM / TRM / SAP Voice-Picking

Eyes free, hands free!
No more need for tedious scanning procedures with MDAs or for handling picking lists. All picking orders are dictated to the employee via headphones direct from SAP LES.

IGZ implements SAP voice-picking solutions on the basis of SAP standard software: i.e. voice terminals are coupled direct to SAP LES (without the use of middleware, without subsystems, client-based voice recognition).

Here, both the market-leading technology Vocollect (TALKMAN terminals) and the thin-client concept (PDA terminals with VoiceXML) can be used direct with SAP LES.

SAP Express Ship Interface

Dispatch processing and Track & Trace

SAP Express Ship Interface (SAP XSI) is the SAP LES standard component for the storage of all relevant routing information from transport service providers (carriers) in SAP.

This means that all the required dispatch documents (package and pallet labels, delivery manifests, etc.) can be printed direct from SAP, and the EDI advice notes sent out.

Dispatch subsystems and specific software/printers for transport service providers are no longer necessary with SAP XSI.

Comprehensive, integrated Track & Trace functions for all bulk goods and parcel service providers connected to SAP help Sales/Distribution and Customer Services in case of queries from your customers.

Task and Resource Management

SAP TRM knows all the physical coordinates (X,Y,Z), paths/routes and characteristics of the forklifts in the warehouse. This enables the optimal allocation of transport orders to the forklifts in real time, minimises paths, generates double cycles and prevents empty travel.

Extensive TRM functions for monitoring and priority control of the transport orders to be executed provide the control panel with all the necessary information and control possibilities.

The recording of dwell time at transfer points and buffer positions is used to establish and analyse transport time on a realistic basis.

SAP Yard Management

SAP Yard Management offers effective management of all incoming and outgoing trucks, trains, swap bodies and containers.

This means that the material flow can be coordinated with yard and gate management beyond the “four walls” of the warehouse.

Numerous functions are available such as an electronic planning board with the allocation of time slots to freight companies, etc.

SAP Value Added Services

Value Added Services are additional logistics services such as assembly, labelling, packaging and kitting. They can be performed in the warehouse via appropriate orders.

The value of individual additional services performed in the warehouse can be measured. The entries required and the invoicing of these services to customers can thus be largely automated.
