EWM now on SAP ERP platform

The new SAP warehouse management system SAP EWM increasingly establishes in areas of application such as service parts management and demanding distribution logistics processes. By now successful reference installations in the automotive and food sector are productive.

With the current release, SAP SCM 5.1, various additional functions and optimizations come along with EWM, e.g. labor management, extensions within the material flow component SAP MFS as well as new and improved key figure based monitoring with fully graphical reports. The most important innovation with release 5.1 is the opportunity to install EWM now in a so called „ERP installation“ on the ERP platform as well. With this „ERP-installation“ SAP EWM customers take advantage of the following benefits:

- No separate database necessary for EWM

- EWM dialogue transactions appear in parallel within the SAP ERP dialogue menu

- No login on two different SAP systems necessary

- In less complex logistics applications a second SCM system environment is not necessary

- If applicable, necessary EWM Add-Ons get access directly to the ERP database

Alternatively to the „ERP installation“ the proven peripheral SAP EWM architecture within a SCM environment offers the benefit of an own entity. This results in benefits such as ERP autonomy, no performance limitations, as well as improved integration within other SAP SCM components such as SAP APO, etc.
